Accounts Assistant

A growing and professional firm based in Central Birmingham is looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join its finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin or develop their career in accounting and finance. The role would suit an Accounting or Finance graduate, AAT student, or AAT qualified candidate who is keen to gain practical experience within a professional finance environment.

You will work closely with the finance team, supporting day to day accounting activities and gaining valuable hands-on experience across bookkeeping, invoices, reconciliations, payments, and general finance administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing sales and purchase invoices
• Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Matching invoices, receipts, and payments
• Supporting bank reconciliations
• Maintaining and updating accounting records
• Preparing and updating financial spreadsheets
• Assisting with supplier and customer queries
• Supporting month-end accounting processes
• Maintaining accurate and organised financial records
• Providing general administrative support to the finance team
• Assisting with other accounting duties as required

Minimum Entry Requirements

• A minimum of a Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related subject, or an AAT qualification
• An interest in developing a career in accounting and finance
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good numerical and analytical skills
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills
• Reliable, proactive, and willing to learn
• Good communication and interpersonal skills

Previous office or finance experience is beneficial but not essential, making this an ideal opportunity for graduates, AAT students, and junior accounting candidates looking to build their experience.
