Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 per annum, depending on experience
Role: Full time, Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm
Location: Office based - Thames Ditton

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper to join our busy team. This role would suit someone with previous experience as an Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper, Finance Assistant or similar, ideally with experience working within an SME or service-based business and a strong working knowledge of a cloud based accounting software (QuickBooks is ideal!)

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant who will lead the day to day bookkeeping and purchase ledger function, ensuring invoices are processed accurately, payments are correctly allocated, bank reconciliations are completed and VAT returns are prepared on time.

Job Role:

  • Carry out day to day bookkeeping using QuickBooks
  • Process and record purchase invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Manage the purchase ledger, including matching invoices to payments and resolving queries
  • Enter and maintain financial transactions within QuickBooks
  • Match and allocate payments and receipts against invoices and transactions
  • Complete regular bank reconciliations
  • Review transactions and ensure the accounts are accurate and up to date
  • Prepare VAT returns for the Group Finance Director to approve
  • Maintain accurate and organised financial records
  • Assist with month-end accounting processes
  • Calculation and processing of subcontractor payments
  • Assisting with the monthly payroll process
  • Liaise with suppliers and colleagues to resolve invoice and payment queries
  • Provide general support with day to day finance and bookkeeping activities as required

About you:

  • Previous experience in an accounts, bookkeeping or finance role, ideally within an SME.
  • Experience of cloud based accounting software, ideally QuickBooks
  • An AAT qualification, or currently working towards one, would be desirable but is not essential.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel knowledge
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Good organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
  • Able to work independently and manage their own workload
  • Confident dealing with financial information and resolving discrepancies
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach
