As an Associate Designer in our Cambridge, OH office, you'll work alongside senior designers, engineers, and our drafting team to turn real customer requirements into real installations. You'll learn on the job, and your work will be reviewed and supported every step of the way. This is an entry-level role where you build skills in CAD, BOMs, tolerances, and engineering standards on legendary Cooper-Bessemer, Ajax, and Superior equipment. If you're studying drafting or design, or just starting out, this is a place to grow.

What You Will Do

  • Assist with the design and integration of new components into existing installations, under the direction of senior designers and engineers
  • Support the development of fits, tolerances, and design changes, and prepare drafts for engineering review
  • Help define and select components, assemblies, and systems that meet business standards and product requirements
  • Create new Bills of Materials (BOMs) for customer installations, with guidance from senior team members
  • Modify existing BOMs and drawings to support product revisions and enhancements
  • Assist engineers in preparing technical data for internal and external customers
  • Support the processing of Engineering Work Requests, including drawing and BOM updates
  • Work closely with ACI and Cooper drafting resources to learn best practices and keep new and revised drawings accurate and on time

Who You Are

  • Currently pursuing or holding an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Drafting/Design, or equivalent coursework, an undergraduate certificate or diploma in Drafting/Design, or a Mechanical Drafting Technical Certificate
  • 0–2 years of experience in product design or drafting (internships, co-ops, and academic projects count)
  • Basic proficiency in CAD software, with a willingness to build advanced skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints, with developing skill in revising and creating detailed and assembly drawings
  • Working knowledge of industry standards, with a willingness to develop ASME Code knowledge
  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize
  • Willingness to cross-train and learn new skills as needed
