Backend Data / AWS Engineer

We're looking for a hands-on Backend Data / AWS professional to take ownership of a critical backend data layer supporting digital experiences, integrations and event-driven services. This is a long-term contract opportunity based in London, with hybrid working requiring 2-3 days per week in the office.

You'll be responsible for database design, performance, security, resilience and cost optimisation, while working closely with external suppliers to deliver reliable and well-observed production services.

Key Skills:

• Strong production experience with NoSQL databases, including data modelling, indexing and performance tuning
• AWS Lambda and API Gateway
• SQS, SNS and EventBridge
• AWS services including Step Functions
• TypeScript/Node.js, Python or Java
• Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK
• CloudWatch monitoring, logging and observability
• Database resilience, backup, restore and recovery
• CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code

• Strong experience with integrations and event-driven services
