Backend Software Engineer Python R&D

Overview

In this Backend Software Engineer role, you will help build a new Greenfield product to counter AI-based security threats. You’ll join the R&D team and contribute across rapid prototyping and structured development, driving continuous improvement. You’ll primarily work with Python, with exposure to Rust and other emerging tech, in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment. The position offers London-based work with WFH and a collaborative team culture, plus a strong tech and impact focus.

Responsibilities

• Prototype new ideas and translate them into functional backend solutions
• Develop and evolve a greenfield product and related platforms
• Iterate on existing systems with a focus on performance and reliability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a rapid development setting
• Utilize Python primarily, with Rust and other languages as needed
• Apply software engineering best practices and contribute to architecture decisions
• Work with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) as part of deployment and scaling

Key requirements

• Advanced Python backend engineering experience
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking
• Willingness to learn new technologies
• Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP
• Experience with Rust, TypeScript and/or C++
• Solid knowledge of software engineering best practices
