Data Engineer Python SQL AWS - FinTech

Overview

As a Data Engineer, you will design and maintain a scalable AWS-based data platform that supports finance-focused data pipelines and ingestion workflows. You’ll work within a data-focused team to evolve the data architecture, optimise PostgreSQL and time-series environments, and ensure data quality and governance at scale. Your day-to-day involves building pipelines, onboarding new data sources, and collaborating with platform engineers to deliver reliable, high-performance data services. This role offers hands-on work in a fintech context with a clear impact on data-driven research and decision making.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain data pipelines, ingestion frameworks, and processing workflows
• Migrate existing datasets into a unified data architecture
• Collaborate with Data Platform Engineer on platform design, data modelling, and database optimisation
• Onboard new data sources and optimise PostgreSQL and time-series databases
• Improve data quality, governance, and platform reliability, performance, and scalability

Key requirements

• Experience as a Data Engineer in financial data or FinTech environments
• Strong SQL and Python coding skills
• AWS experience including Data Lakes and S3
• Experience building and supporting large-scale data pipelines
• Experience with PostgreSQL
• Experience with time-series data (TimescaleDB or similar)
• Experience with orchestration platforms such as Dagster or Airflow
• Collaborative with good communication skills
