NEWCASTLE (HYBRID - 2 DAYS PER WEEK)
This is an exciting opportunity to join a globally recognised professional services organisation that is investing heavily in Data, Cloud and AI capabilities. You'll play a key role in shaping and owning a modern enterprise data platform, working alongside highly skilled engineers and architects while influencing technical decisions across the business.
THE COMPANYOur client is a global professional services firm with thousands of employees operating across multiple international regions. They are continuing to invest significantly in technology, analytics and AI, creating a sophisticated data environment that supports business-critical decision making and innovation. This role sits within a growing technology function and offers the opportunity to work on a strategic platform at the centre of the organisation's future data roadmap.
THE ROLE- Own and oversee a cloud-based enterprise data platform built on Azure technologies
- Act as the technical lead for platform-related decisions, scalability and performance improvements
- Work closely with Infrastructure, Security, Architecture and Engineering teams
- Ensure platform reliability, governance, monitoring and operational excellence
- Troubleshoot complex platform, networking, storage and integration issues
- Drive best practice across CI/CD, automation and Infrastructure-as-Code
- Support Data Engineers by removing technical barriers and improving platform capabilities
- Contribute to platform modernisation, AI enablement and continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong experience in Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering or a similar field
- Excellent Azure experience within enterprise-scale environments
- Experience supporting and optimising cloud-based data platforms
- Strong understanding of Azure Data Factory, Databricks and modern data architecture principles
- Experience with CI/CD, Azure DevOps, Git and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform
- Strong knowledge of Python and platform automation
- Experience making technical and architectural decisions
- Excellent stakeholder management and problem-solving skills
- Experience within regulated environments would be beneficial
- £73,000 - £84,000 base salary
