In a nutshell

The Specialist Distribution Technology ensures the optimal and revenue-maximizing use of distribution systems across our 300 member hotels. With at least two years of prior experience in distribution or a related field, the Specialist acts as the escalation point for complex technical issues, advanced troubleshooting, and conflict resolution that directly impact hotel and company revenues.

The Specialist is also responsible for onboarding new hotels, delivering advanced trainings, and mentoring interns. By ensuring accurate configuration, rate integrity, and alignment of distribution strategies, the Specialist safeguards revenue streams, maintains rate parity, and minimizes risks such as Best Rate Guarantee (BRG) claims.

The role requires strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability, combined with customer-facing skills to support hotels across diverse markets and cultural contexts. In addition, the Specialist is responsible for mentoring and supervising interns, training peers, delivering system trainings, and contributing to strategic projects that enhance distribution processes, optimize performance, and drive measurable revenue impact.

Tasks & Responsibilities

System Implementation & Advanced Management

  • Configure, maintain, and optimize member hotels in SynXis, MARSHA, and related Marriott systems (HPP, Product Catalog, Oscar, One Yield, DAC, etc.).
  • Monitor connectivity and performance across OTAs, GDS, IDS, Voice, direct booking engines, and mobile channels.
  • Handle escalated tickets requiring in-depth troubleshooting, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Conduct audits and system health checks, ensuring integrity, compliance, and consistency of data across systems.
  • Configure and implement new hotels within Design Hotels systems, supporting budgeted revenue targets.

Hotel Support & Training

  • Act as an escalation point for complex distribution-related issues and recurring problem cases.
  • Provide advanced second-level support to hotels on system use, connectivity challenges, and performance optimization.
  • Deliver comprehensive onboarding and advanced CRS trainings for hotels, covering interfaces, booking engines, and distribution strategies.
  • Advise hotels on advanced rate setup, revenue integration, and best practices in distribution and channel management.
  • Handle conflict resolution with hotels, travel agents, or guests when issues arise.

Content & Channel Optimization

  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of hotel content (room types, descriptions, amenities, policies, taxes, images, etc.) across all connected channels, aligned with PMS setup.
  • Manage and support rate loading across all distribution channels (public, confidential, negotiated, campaigns, consortia, groups, etc.) in CRS and connected systems, including Cvent and GDS emulator. Ensure accurate and timely rate configuration to drive revenue through transaction fees, maintain rate parity across channels, and minimize exposure to Best Rate Guarantee (BRG) claims.
  • Lead OTA and GDS onboarding processes and resolve escalated connectivity or extranet access issues (Booking.com, Expedia, Agoda, Trip.com, etc.).
  • Perform GDS and OTA audits and troubleshooting, particularly for Enhanced Business Model (EBM) hotels.

Leadership, Collaboration & Projects

  • Supervise and train interns, acting as a mentor and ensuring knowledge transfer.
  • Support onboarding and training of new Distribution Technology team members.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Revenue/Commercial Strategy, Sales & Marketing, RFP & Travel Trade, Reservations, Account Management) to align distribution technology with commercial goals.
  • Contribute to distribution-related projects aimed at improving operations, developing training materials, and enhancing processes.

Experience & Mindset

Education & Background

  • Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in distribution, reservations, revenue management, or related technical hospitality roles.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of distribution systems:
  • CRS: SynXis, MARSHA, SiteMinder, etc.
  • Marriott systems: DAC, HPP, Product Catalog, MaRFP, MARSHA, mPortal, etc.
  • Knowledge about connectivity with different hotel systems:
  • PMS: Opera, MEWS, StayNTouch, Protel, Infor, etc.
  • RMS: Duetto, IDeaS, HappyHotel, etc.
  • OTAs: Booking.com, Expedia, Agoda, Trip.com, Tablet, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, etc.
  • Experience with XML required.
  • XTML language not required but of advantage.
  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting complex technical issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) with ability to analyse and interpret data.

Languages

  • Excellent command of English (company working language)
  • At least one additional language required: further languages is an advantage.
