About OpenTrain
OpenTrain is the centralized, open platform where AI training and data-labeling freelancers find work, consolidate opportunities across platforms, and build a unified AI training portfolio they control. We make specialized AI training work easier to track, apply for, and grow into a durable freelance career.
About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting a contractor Imagery Analyst to prepare drone and maritime sensor imagery for AI and machine-learning systems. You will improve machine-generated annotations, identify objects models miss, and produce consistent, accurate image labels in a secure Navy environment. The work begins with still imagery and may expand to video-frame annotation as the project scope develops.
What you will do
Review and refine machine-generated bounding boxes for accuracy. Identify and annotate objects missed by AI models. Apply labeling guidelines consistently across completed images. Deliver annotated imagery in a secure environment and maintain steady, reliable throughput. Record ambiguous cases and communicate guideline questions clearly. Adapt to video-frame annotation as the work expands.
Required skills
Open to candidates in the United States who can obtain a DoD Common Access Card or participate in the sponsorship process. Strong attention to detail and consistency are required for repetitive, accuracy-critical work. Candidates should communicate clearly in writing and verbally, and should be familiar with aerial, maritime, or sensor-based imagery, including daylight or thermal formats. Experience with data labeling, bounding-box annotation, or related data-preparation work is valuable. Comfort using dedicated labeling applications and learning new tools is expected.
Helpful background
Experience in high-volume, quality-controlled annotation, robotics, autonomous systems, or defense projects is helpful. Prior AI experience is not required, and domain knowledge in imagery analysis can support success in the role.
Work arrangement
This is a remote contractor opportunity for contributors based in the United States. The work involves image annotation and may progress from still imagery to video frames.
Why work with OpenTrain
OpenTrain gives freelancers one place to manage AI training opportunities instead of rebuilding proof of work on every platform. A stronger OpenTrain profile helps you show credible experience, discover roles that match your skills, and turn AI training and data-labeling work into a long-term portfolio.
