Finance and Operations
People who build lose nearly a quarter of their working time to things unrelated to the work itself. Benetics AI was founded in 2022 by Ferdinand — electrician, engineer, and serial entrepreneur — to give that time back. We build the modern AI stack for the construction site, starting with a voice assistant that works in any language or dialect and requires no typing.
Over 500 companies in 10+ countries run on Benetics: electricians, HVAC, timber, roofing, solar. We are bootstrapped, cash-flow positive, and growing in triple digits. The team is young, diverse, and here for one reason — to drag construction into this century.
Now we are hiring the person who keeps the money and the paperwork straight while we scale across Europe and into the US.
Tasks
Finance and legal in one hand, reporting to the CEO. Today, both sit across the founders, our fiduciary, and outside counsel — you take them over and build them out.
Finance
You own the numbers we steer by. Bootstrapped means no investor money covers a bad month.
- Monthly close on a fixed date, with our fiduciary and auditors
- Operating model, cash forecast and runway across CHF, EUR and USD
- SaaS metrics and billing: ARR, retention, CAC, payback
- Cohort analysis, quote-to-cash, revenue recognition
- Payroll, insurance and tax
Legal
"Sales should close a standard deal without you, and reach you within a day when they can't."
- Contract templates, fallback positions and redlines: order forms, MSAs, partner and supplier agreements, NDAs
- GDPR and revDSG, DPAs, subprocessors, TOMs, and the security questionnaires every enterprise deal brings
- Insurance, employment law across CH, DE, FR and the US, and the ISO 27001 / SOC 2 decision
Building the group
"The US subsidiary is live work, and it is yours."
- Incorporation, intercompany agreement, and transfer price between the Swiss parent and the international entity
- Registered agent, state registrations, payroll and sales tax nexus
- Consolidation that stays clean as further entities are added
- Choosing the finance and legal stack: what to automate, what to outsource, what to keep close
Requirements
What you bring
- 5+ years across finance and either legal or commercial contracting
- Accounting, payroll, and tax in practice, not in theory
- You can redline a SaaS contract yourself and know when to stop and call counsel
- SaaS finance: subscription revenue, retention cohorts, unit economics, quote-to-cash
- German and English, both working-fluent. Our customers, fiduciary and contracts, are German and English
- First-hire temperament: you build the model, you chase the invoice, you write the policy. There is no team under you on day one
A plus
- You have set up a foreign subsidiary before, including intercompany pricing.
- Experience with SMB customers and the collections reality that comes with them
- Opinions on the finance stack and a habit of automating what does not need you
This is not a CFO title waiting for a team to manage, and not a purely legal seat. The title grows with the company; the work stays hands-on for a while yet.
Benefits
- A seat at the table from day one: you report to the CEO, and your analysis decides what we price, where we hire, and which market we push next
- A profitable, bootstrapped company — no runway panic, no investor-imposed plan. The constraint is our own discipline, and you set it.
- Real scope: finance and legal in one hand, with the international entities and the group structure as your build project rather than a slide
- Freedom to choose your own stack and to automate or outsource anything that does not need you.
- Zürich office, on-site Monday to Thursday, flexible hours and vacation planning.
- A stated salary band plus participation
- First introduction, 15-minute video call
- A deeper conversation with one of the founders, 30 minutes — the company, the numbers, the role
- A practical case, remote or in Zürich, with the team: our real model and one live question, discussed rather than submitted as homework
- Final conversation and decision — fast, transparent, pragmatic
Don't you meet every requirement? No problem. Apply anyway, and tell us in two honest paragraphs about the messiest finance or legal situation you have untangled. That tells us more than any cover letter.
