Flexographic Printer

In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience into the technical world of UV Flexographic Printing and become part of a knowledgeable and supportive team. The Printer is responsible for the product quality that comes from the print press in consultation with the product specification sheet. The Printer must exercise best practice at set up and in running to maximise volume in line with daily production plan. Qualifications, Education and Experience • Technical or trade qualification in printing, manufacturing, engineering or a related discipline is desirable • Previous experience operating flexographic printing presses, ideally in packaging Essential Duties and Tasks • Ensure that the Press is ran to the maximum possible capacity by setting parameters and modifying offsets whilst trying to minimise downtime & scrap and meet the machine speed requirements. • Ensure that all machine changeovers are carried out in an efficient manner and ensure that the support personnel are performing their assigned tasks during changeovers to ensure efficient changeovers are achieved. • Operate the integrated computer control system, to set and monitor parameters such as speed, tension, registration, ink delivery, and drying throughout the print run. • Refer to the Print Set-up & Product Specification Sheets when setting up all jobs • Any amendments to existing setup must be recorded on the Print Set-up Sheet so that this formulates the starting point for the next time the job runs • Ensure the correct data is entered into the • All Print Setup Sheets must be filled appropriately for traceability purposes and to ensure updates/changes are actioned. • Liaise with Supervisor & Pre-press personnel to ensure that all consumables are stagged as required for the next job • Printers are aware-of and comply with the requirements of the Stop/Start and Line Clearance procedures to ensure the desired level of product quality is achieved whilst keeping scrap levels to an absolute minimum • Verify that the correct Material Specification is staged for each job and ensure that any deviations are reported to Shift Supervisor • Be aware that in the event of an excessive downtime or quality event that the issue is escalated to the shift supervisor. • Ensure all relevant internal QA documentation is completed in an accurate and timely fashion. All jobs should be inspected against the plan to ensure consistency and right first time approach is applied. • Adhere to all housekeeping requirements to ensure Print Area is always audit-ready. • Ensure all requirements of accredited bodies including, BRCGS / ISO / FSC / PEFC & FSAI, are adhered to as a routine part of the production process • Learn and uphold company standards to ensure maximum customer satisfaction and optimise work efficiency. • Strive to achieve all company-specified production targets
