Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Full Stack Engineer, Product Platform based in United States.

This role owns the core platform foundations that support a security-focused identity and account protection product.
You will shape the data layer, public APIs, multi-region architecture, and governance systems that underpin the platform.
A major focus will be building privacy, retention, deletion, tenant isolation, and access controls directly into the infrastructure by default.
You will work across backend systems, databases, cloud infrastructure, internal tooling, and operational interfaces in a genuinely full stack capacity.
The role also gives you ownership of customer-facing APIs, including design, versioning, compatibility, authentication, and reliability.
You will operate the systems you build, solve complex production problems, and improve observability, testing, deployment, and resilience.
This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer to influence foundational architecture where correctness, security, and reliability are critical to customer trust.

Accountabilities:

  • Own the PostgreSQL data layer, including schema design, migrations, indexing, query performance, connection management, and operational health under production load.
  • Design data models that make tenant isolation and data classification structural properties of the platform rather than conventions developers must remember to enforce.
  • Execute complex live-system migrations safely, including large-scale changes where downtime or data loss is unacceptable.
  • Implement retention, deletion, and data minimization mechanisms that reliably propagate across derived data, replicas, caches, and backups.
  • Build access controls and audit logging that appropriately scope and record access to sensitive information as part of normal platform operation.
  • Generate compliance evidence directly from platform systems and partner with security and governance teams to translate contractual and regulatory commitments into enforceable technical controls.
  • Design and extend multi-region architecture covering routing, storage, replication, and failover.
  • Enforce data residency requirements at the platform level so restricted data cannot leave its designated region through standard application paths.
  • Address the operational challenges of multi-region systems, including consistency, latency, deployments, and region-specific debugging.
  • Design and maintain public APIs that are consistent, predictable, and reliable for external customers and integrations.
  • Own API versioning, deprecation, and backward compatibility while ensuring existing customers can continue using established integrations.
  • Build and maintain authentication, authorization, rate limiting, idempotency, and other capabilities required for production-grade APIs.
  • Operate and troubleshoot the systems you build, investigating complex issues across services, data, and infrastructure.
  • Develop internal tools, administrative interfaces, and operational dashboards that provide teams with greater visibility into the platform.
  • Improve reliability, observability, testing, and deployment practices while reviewing code and contributing to a high technical standard across the engineering organization.
  • Requirements:

    • 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems.
    • Deep PostgreSQL expertise, including schema design, query optimization, indexing, and performing migrations against live production data.
    • Strong backend development skills in Go, Node.js, Python, Java, or a comparable language, combined with enough frontend expertise to build internal tools using React or a similar framework.
    • Experience designing and maintaining APIs used by real customers, including API versioning, backward compatibility, and long-term integration support.
    • Hands-on cloud infrastructure experience, preferably with AWS, including storage, IAM, encryption, and related cloud security primitives.
    • Experience working with sensitive or regulated data where access control, retention, deletion, and data governance are mandatory technical requirements.
    • Strong engineering judgment around correctness, idempotency, safe retries, failure handling, and production failure modes that emerge under scale and load.
    • Clear communication skills and strong judgment when working independently within a remote, cross-functional environment.
    • Legal authorization to work in the United States for any employer without current or future visa sponsorship.
    • Experience with multi-region or data-residency-constrained systems is a strong plus.
    • Experience implementing multi-tenant isolation at the data layer is preferred.
    • Familiarity with biometric privacy requirements such as BIPA or GDPR from an implementation perspective is beneficial.
    • Experience working in SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similarly audited environments is advantageous.
    • Background in identity, authentication, account recovery, fraud prevention, fintech, or security products is a plus.
    • Strong experience with production incidents, observability, reliability engineering, or operational troubleshooting is beneficial.
    • Demonstrated ownership, technical judgment, pragmatism, speed with care, kindness, and integrity.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive compensation based on role, level, skills, experience, and education.
      • Meaningful equity ownership.
      • Remote-first, U.S.-based team.
      • Regular quarterly team offsites.
      • Flexible work schedules.
      • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.
      • Flexible paid time off.
      • New computer hardware and equipment.
      • Opportunity to work on foundational systems where security, privacy, and reliability are central to customer trust.
