General Manager for SMAG in Carlsberg Byen

Would you like to lead the daily operations of a modern restaurant focused on freshly prepared, nutritious and flavourful food? SMAG is looking for an experienced and dedicated General Manager who can deliver strong results, develop the team and ensure an excellent guest experience.

SMAG serves breakfast, salads, sandwiches, hot dishes and plant-based meals, with a focus on seasonal vegetables and quality ingredients. The restaurant is centrally located at Kedelpladsen in Carlsberg Byen, Copenhagen.

About the position

As General Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the restaurant’s daily operations. You will be a visible and hands-on leader who leads by example and creates a positive environment for both employees and guests.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, motivating and developing the restaurant team

  • Ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations

  • Preparing staff schedules and ensuring appropriate staffing levels

  • Maintaining high standards of service, quality and guest satisfaction

  • Monitoring revenue, labour costs, food costs and other operational targets

  • Recruiting, onboarding and training new employees

  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, workplace safety and internal control procedures

  • Managing purchasing, stock levels and supplier relationships

  • Contributing actively to the continued development of the restaurant

About you

We expect that you:

  • Have management experience from the restaurant, café or hospitality industry

  • Are a clear, supportive and motivating leader

  • Have a good understanding of restaurant operations and financial performance

  • Work in a structured manner and remain calm during busy periods

  • Are service-minded and enjoy creating positive guest experiences

  • Can build a strong team and a positive working environment

  • Take ownership and follow tasks through to completion

  • Can communicate in English; Danish is an advantage

  • Are available for flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends
