Location: Joint Base San Antonio–Lackland (JBSA-Lackland), San Antonio, TX (on-site)
Supporting: The Defense Health Agency (DHA) **Secret Security Clearance**

Are you an experienced IT professional who enjoys solving challenging technical problems, working directly with users, and being the person others turn to when an issue isn't easily resolved?
CompTech Computer Technologies is seeking a Senior IT Support Specialist (Tier 3) to join our team supporting the Defense Health Agency (DHA) at Joint Base San Antonio–Lackland.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned IT support professional who enjoys hands-on technical work and wants to apply their troubleshooting expertise in a mission-focused Department of Defense environment.
You'll serve as a trusted technical resource, tackling complex workstation, software, application, and connectivity issues while collaborating with other IT specialists to keep critical systems and users supported.
Work Scope
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as a Tier 3 escalation resource, troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues that go beyond routine help desk support.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, workstation, application, connectivity, and user-access problems.
- Investigate recurring technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Work alongside systems administrators, network engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and other technical teams to resolve challenging incidents.
- Manage and document incidents using enterprise ticketing systems, ensuring issues are tracked through resolution.
- Share technical knowledge, contribute to troubleshooting documentation, and help improve support processes.
- Provide responsive, professional technical support to users in a mission-critical DoD environment.
Experience, Education, and Certification Requirements:
Experience:
- Six (6) years of progressive experience in IT support, desktop support, service desk operations, or a closely related IT discipline.
- Strong hands-on experience diagnosing and resolving complex hardware, software, application, and workstation issues.
- Experience supporting users in an enterprise IT environment.
- Familiarity with IT service management and ticketing systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot independently, collaborate with technical teams, and communicate effectively with end users.
- Experience documenting technical solutions and contributing to process improvements.
Education:
Bachelor's degree or applicable equivalency of four (4) additional years of relevant experience.
Certifications: one is required to be considered.
- Commercial baseline certifications applicable to this advanced role may include:
- CompTIA CASP+ / SecurityX
- (ISC)² CISSP
Additional advanced certifications relevant to cybersecurity, systems administration, networking, enterprise technical support, or DoD cyber workforce requirements are a plus.
Security Clearance Requirements:
- Active Secret Clearance
Salary:
- $60,000 - $64,000, plus full benefits, PTO, 401k+, Tuition Reimbursement, Professional Development Support
