Java Engineer - Market Data - LSEG/RTSDK Migration

Permanent

London - Hybrid 3 days per week

Salary - £85K - £110K

We are seeking an experienced Java Engineer with strong market data and electronic trading experience to support the modernisation of a Futures algorithmic trading platform.

The role will focus on migrating from the legacy LSEG/Refinitiv RFA API to RTSDK, analysing existing market data usage, implementing application and framework changes, and ensuring trading functionality and performance remain consistent throughout the transition.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse existing RFA market data usage and map functionality to RTSDK.
  • Assess differences in market data fields and behaviour across relevant exchanges.
  • Develop enhancements to Java applications and shared frameworks to support RTSDK.
  • Support a phased migration while maintaining compatibility and system stability.
  • Develop and execute automated, regression and integration testing.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to improve coding, testing and productivity.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong experience with Futures & Options market data, particularly LSEG/Refinitiv.
  • Proven Java development experience within electronic trading environments.
  • Good understanding of market data, exchange feeds and trading workflows.
  • Experience working with complex existing codebases and technology migrations.
  • Strong focus on performance, scalability and low-latency processing.
  • Experience with TDD, automated testing and regression testing.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered development tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

It would be an added advantage if you had any of the following:

  • Previous RFA-to-RTSDK migration experience.
  • Experience with low-latency trading and real-time market data systems.
  • Knowledge of Futures market structure, exchange connectivity and market data normalisation.
  • Experience developing shared frameworks or platform libraries.
