Junior Java Developer - Trading

Overview

In this role you will contribute to backend Java development within a small, Agile tech team at a growing commodities trading firm. You’ll work across projects spanning trading systems, marketplaces, payments, and automation, gaining exposure to the full tech stack. The position blends hands-on coding with learning opportunities in modern tools like Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, and cloud tech. Responsibilities

• Develop backend services in Java as part of a cross-functional team
• Contribute to trading systems, marketplace features, payments, and automated trading bots
• Collaborate in an Agile environment and apply TDD where appropriate
• Engage across the tech stack and adopt appropriate tools for the job
• Support ongoing learning and skill expansion within the team

Key requirements

• Degree (2:1 or above) in Computer Science or a related STEM field from a top-tier university
• Commercial Java development experience
• Familiarity with Agile processes and TDD
• Solid fundamentals in OOP, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms
