WHY JOIN TAXRISE?
At TaxRise, we don’t just provide tax relief services; we provide hope, stability, and solutions to individuals and families facing financial uncertainty. Our team is passionate about reshaping the tax resolution industry through innovation, empathy, and unwavering commitment to our clients.
Join us and make a tangible difference in people’s lives while growing your career with a team that values your contributions.
ABOUT THE ROLE
TaxRise is looking for a Junior Software Developer who is curious, technically capable, and eager to grow.
This is an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career developer who has built a technical foundation through school, internships, research, personal projects, freelance work, or simply building things on their own.
We're not expecting you to know everything on day one. We are looking for someone who understands the fundamentals of software development, can work with existing code, and is comfortable learning by doing.
You'll work on real projects from the start — making front-end website changes, troubleshooting issues, working within existing codebases, using Git to manage and push code, and gradually taking ownership of larger projects.
We're also looking for someone excited about how software development is changing. TaxRise embraces AI and emerging technology, and we want someone willing to experiment with AI-assisted development tools, learn new ways of working, and use technology to become a more effective developer.
This role is 100% on-site in Irvine, CA. If you're excited to work side-by-side with our team, we'd love to hear from you.
HOW YOU'LL BE REWARDED
-
Base pay: $80,000–$90,000 per year, depending on experience, technical ability, and demonstrated skills
-
Eligible for standard TaxRise benefits from day one of eligibility
-
Opportunity to grow your technical skills through hands-on work with real production systems and projects
WHAT YOU'LL DO
-
Make front-end changes and improvements to TaxRise websites and web applications.
-
Write, modify, test, and maintain code across existing applications.
-
Use Git and standard version-control workflows to manage changes, push code, and collaborate with other developers.
-
Troubleshoot bugs and technical issues and work toward practical solutions.
-
Build and improve internal tools that help TaxRise teams work more effectively.
-
Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and business teams to turn ideas into working solutions.
-
Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes.
-
Use AI-assisted development tools to support research, coding, debugging, documentation, and problem-solving.
-
Take increasing ownership of features and projects as your skills develop.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE
-
A foundational understanding of software development and programming concepts.
- Working knowledge of JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
-
Familiarity with HTML and CSS and the ability to make front-end website changes.
-
Exposure to a modern front-end framework such as React or similar technology.
-
Basic understanding of APIs and how front-end and back-end systems communicate.
-
Familiarity with Git, including repositories, branches, commits, and pushing code.
-
Ability to read existing code, research unfamiliar problems, and work toward a solution.
-
Strong communication skills and openness to feedback.
-
Curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new technologies and ways of working.
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT
You don't need years of professional development experience to be a strong candidate. We're especially interested in people who can demonstrate that they like to build, explore, and figure things out.
That might include:
-
Personal projects, GitHub repositories, or a technical portfolio
-
University or independent research
-
Internships, freelance development, or hackathons
-
Websites, applications, automations, or tools you've built on your own
-
Experience teaching yourself a new technology or experimenting with AI development tools
A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field is helpful, but demonstrated ability, curiosity, and willingness to learn are equally important to us.
WHO WILL THRIVE HERE
You'll likely do well in this role if you're someone who doesn't need every problem to come with step-by-step instructions.
You research things you don't understand. You experiment. You ask good questions. You're willing to try an approach, learn from it, and change direction when there's a better solution.
Most importantly, you're excited to keep learning.
We're looking for someone with a strong foundation, a curious mindset, and the drive to grow into an exceptional developer.
