Lead Data Engineer Waterloo

Lead data engineering for BIM models and engineering documents at Sidian, with strong Python skills in a hybrid Waterloo startup.

As Lead Data Engineer, you will own ingestion pipelines and design Sidian’s knowledge graph. You will build retrieval and reasoning systems for engineering firms, working directly with customers to turn messy workflows into dependable product. The work spans models, drawings, spreadsheets, and email.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own ingestion pipelines for BIM models and engineering documents
• Design the company knowledge graph for connected information
• Build retrieval and reasoning systems on top of it
• Work directly with customers on engineering workflows
• Turn messy workflows into dependable product capabilities

Requirements:

• Strong Python data engineering experience
• Hands-on graph database experience with Neo4j and Cypher
• Production pipeline experience with Spark, Databricks, and Parquet
• Experience parsing difficult file formats
• Side projects, open source, or startup experience valued
