M&E Compliance Officer (Public Sector) VANRATH are assisting our client, a large Public Sector Organisation, in their search for a M&E Compliance Officer for 6 months initially with the possibility of extension/permanent in their Belfast Office. Responsibilities To provide professional and technical support in relation to the statutory inspection, testing, maintenance and compliance of mechanical and electrical systems across the Client's estate. The postholder will help ensure that schools and other properties remain safe, legally compliant, operational and appropriately maintained, through effective monitoring of statutory compliance programmes, inspections, remedial works, contractors and associated records. The role will involve working closely with schools, Facilities Management colleagues, contractors, consultants and other professional staff to identify compliance issues, ensure remedial actions are completed and maintain accurate records of the condition and compliance of M&E assets. Monitor compliance with relevant statutory inspection, testing and maintenance requirements for mechanical and electrical installations. Ensure statutory inspections are undertaken within required timescales. Monitor outstanding inspection and testing actions. Identify areas of non-compliance and ensure appropriate corrective action is initiated. Maintain oversight of compliance records and certificates. Escalate significant risks or overdue statutory works to appropriate management. Provide advice to schools and colleagues on M&E compliance requirements. The postholder would not necessarily undertake specialist testing personally, but would ensure appropriately qualified contractors carry out the required inspection, testing, certification and remedial works. Essential skills required A suitable candidate would typically have: A relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Facilities Management or a related discipline. Relevant experience in M&E compliance, facilities management, building services or maintenance. Knowledge of statutory inspection and testing requirements. Experience of reviewing technical reports and compliance certificates. Experience managing or monitoring contractors. Understanding of building services and M&E installations. Experience of identifying defects and compliance issues. Good understanding of health and safety requirements. Strong administrative and record-keeping skills. Good IT skills and experience working with databases/spreadsheets. Ability to prioritise work according to risk. Strong communication skills. Ability to work across multiple sites. Desirable Membership of a relevant professional body such as CIBSE, IET, IMechE or equivalent. NEBOSH/IOSH or relevant health and safety qualification. Experience working within a public-sector, education, healthcare or large commercial estate. Experience of statutory compliance management. Experience managing M&E maintenance contracts. Knowledge of Northern Ireland health and safety legislation and guidance. Experience with CAFM/IWMS or other asset-management systems. Experience of planned preventative maintenance programmes. Experience of procurement and contract management. Remuneration £39,742, per annum, plus discount benefits.
