Overview

The .NET Software Engineer II is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing applications across the organization's .NET technology stack, our systems to customer platforms, mapping and transforming data between formats, and troubleshooting data flow issues across systems. Works with external vendors and AIT's internal team. This role involves real hands-on work learning, stabilizing, and extending existing systems rather than starting from a blank slate. Design, build, and maintain applications across our .NET technology stack, supporting a mix of internal logistics/operations systems and customer-facing platforms, working closely with senior engineers, product managers, and QA in an Agile environment. This role is introduced to the AI-assisted development, and will eventually use these tools day to day basis.

Learn, stabilize, maintain, and extend existing applications, including unfamiliar or undocumented systems originally developed by external vendors.
  • API, Client Integration & Data Management:Build and consume APIs supporting inbound and outbound integrations with client and customer platforms. Map and transform data between internal and external formats, ensure data accuracy and consistency, and investigate data flow issues from source through downstream systems.
  • Database Development & Technical Troubleshooting:Develop efficient SQL Server queries, stored procedures, and views; troubleshoot and optimize database performance; and diagnose and resolve application defects, integration failures, and production issues in a timely manner.
  • Software Quality, Security & Development Standards:Develop unit and integration tests to support code quality and reliability, participate in code reviews by providing and incorporating constructive feedback, and follow secure coding practices to support application security and compliance.
  • AI-Assisted Development & Continuous Improvement:Use AI-assisted coding tools, including GitHub Copilot, Claude, and ChatGPT, as part of daily development workflows for code generation, test development, debugging, refactoring, and documentation. Identify practical opportunities to leverage AI tools to improve individual and team efficiency and output.
  • SDLC, Agile Delivery & Cross-Functional Collaboration:Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements and solution design through deployment and production support. Collaborate with product, QA, operations, senior engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver solutions supporting internal logistics/operations systems and customer-facing platforms; participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, manage work through Jira, and document designs and technical decisions in Confluence.
