POSITION: Network and Design Consultant

REPORTS TO: Chief Operations Officer
STATUS: Temporary / Hourly – Part-Time – Non-Exempt

Overview: The Network and Design Consultant is a temporary, part-time position reporting to the COO. The role will be mostly remote, with on-campus work required at times based on the defined project. Hours will be limited to 29 hours per week and are expected to be limited to four workdays per week. This role does not have direct reports, nor does it carry any supervisory, management, approval, or decision-making authority. This role’s duration will be tied to completion of the identified priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete the network infrastructure replacement of the master campus design.
  • Consult on the new CWF building technology systems, including low-voltage and related technology systems.
  • Develop an MSP scope of work addressing network monitoring, maintenance, performance, and escalation protocols, along with evaluation criteria and a comparison matrix for prospective MSPs.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders to support completion of assigned technology projects.
  • Review network, low-voltage, and technology plans, specifications, and project information and provide technical recommendations within the scope of assigned priorities.
  • Monitor project milestones, deadlines, deliverables, technical issues, and risks, and provide weekly status updates to the COO.
  • Maintain documentation related to project progress, technical recommendations, scopes of work, evaluation criteria, and assigned deliverables.
  • Attend weekly OAC meetings with contractors every Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
  • Participate in a weekly touch point with the COO to review hours worked, project progress, and completion status, with the date and time agreed upon based on schedules.
  • Track all hours worked in Paycor and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Perform work primarily remotely, with on-campus work as required by assigned projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Professional experience with network infrastructure design, implementation, replacement, maintenance, and performance.
  • Experience reviewing or consulting on low-voltage and technology systems for facilities or construction projects.
  • Experience coordinating technology projects with contractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Experience with network monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, performance, and escalation practices.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, or evaluating technology scopes of work, including services provided by Managed Service Providers (MSPs).

  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage priorities, deadlines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to communicate technical information effectively with contractors, vendors, project stakeholders, and organizational leadership.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and remain accountable for assigned projects within established work-hour limitations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate technical information, identify issues or risks, and provide clear recommendations.
  • Strong documentation skills, including the ability to prepare scopes of work, evaluation criteria, project documentation, and status reports.
  • Ability to operate within the defined authority, responsibilities, and scope of the position.
