Print Production Designer
Overview
Shift4 is expanding globally and hiring a key print production designer responsible for managing print runs of gift cards and related collateral from the initial request to delivery, focusing on quality checks, client communication, and project management.
This opportunity includes reviewing artwork files to determine specifications as well as identifying any potential problems, obtaining quotes from approved external manufacturers based on the defined requirements, and moving orders through all stages of production from proofing to delivery.
This is an onsite role based at Shift4’s Toronto, Ontario, Canada location.
Responsibilities
- Review client supplied artwork files using industry standard graphic design software – Adobe (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat)
- Apply print production knowledge to verify incoming client artwork meets production specifications.
- Detect file issues and make recommendatins.
- Work with selected manufacturers to determine plastic printing suitability of submitted designs.
- Communicate directly with clients to explain artwork recommendations.
- Prepare card artwork for submission to selected manufacturers.
- Manage the artwork proofing process directly with clients. Review proofs, manage revisions, and oversee the final product to ensure it meets quality standards.
- Follow up with printers to ensure timely delivery of data, artwork, and labels proofs.
- Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, managing timelines and communication to project completion.
- Stay updated with the latest trends in print design, technology, and printing techniques, particularly for plastic printing.
- On occasion, work with clients to create print ready artwork for gift cards or related collateral using provided artwork assets.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, graphic communications management or related field is preferred and/or certifications or diplomas aligned with printing technology are highly advantageous.
- 3+ years of experience in print design or production, with a strong focus on plastic printing preferred, and a portfolio showcasing successful print projects.
- Experience with the full cycle of print production, including pre-press, proofing, and final print.
- Intermediate+ skill level with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat.
- Experienced in Microsoft 365 environment (Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook)
- Experience with PC platform; MAC O/S knowledge is a plus.
- Experience with the Odoo ERP system is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Energetic and driven with a strong sense of urgency.
- Careful attention to accuracy and detail.
- Organized and process oriented.
- Ability to work independently and multi-task.
- An eye for design with a strong understanding of typography, layout, color theory, and fonts management.
