Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hayward also has facilities in Tennessee, Arizona, and Rhode Island, Georgia, as well as Canada, Spain, France, Australia, and China.

We are seeking a Product Quality Assurance Engineer to lead failure investigations, drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and enhance product reliability. This role is essential to improving customer satisfaction, reducing warranty costs, and ensuring the highest quality standards across Hayward’s products. You will collaborate cross-functionally with design, quality, manufacturing, and technical service teams to identify failure mechanisms, implement sustainable solutions, and support launch of new products. This position is on-site located in North Kingstown, RI.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead failure investigations on products and components to identify root causes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) using methodologies like 8D, Fishbone, and FMEA.
  • Partner with field service teams to collect and analyze failure data, identify trends, and develop technical insights.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to implement design improvements and process enhancements, supporting the transition of new or improved products into production.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to mitigate future failures.
  • Support warranty analysis by identifying systemic issues and providing data-driven reports.
  • Utilize testing, teardown analysis, and material characterization techniques to evaluate failed components.
  • Document findings and present technical reports with actionable recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by integrating lessons learned into product development and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in failure analysis, reliability engineering, or process engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Hands-on experience with disassembly, testing, and inspection of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis methodologies and reliability testing.
  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis, statistics, and failure reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Excellent communication skills for technical reporting and presentations.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
  • Shainin or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certification is a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
