Position: Project Coordinator

Job Type: 18-Month Contract, Full-Time, 14/7 Rotation

Location: Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta to start, then site-based in Kitimat, British Columbia

Pay Range: $72,000 to $90,000 annually, plus an additional 25% of base salary

Purpose of the Role

SB Canada is hiring experienced Project Coordinators to support execution on a major industrial deep foundations project in Kitimat, BC. You will keep the work moving on site by tracking quantities and production, coordinating purchasing and material deliveries, managing field documentation, and coordinating crews, subcontractors and suppliers.

This is a site-based role on a 14/7 rotation. We are looking for coordinators with enough field experience to operate independently, take ownership of their scope, and keep the project on budget and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities of the Role
  • Be an active participant and key stakeholder in SB Canada’s Health and Safety Program, helping to build a positive safety culture as we move from compliance to care.

  • Work with the project team from estimating and bidding through to final closeout, supporting safe construction, profitability and client satisfaction.

  • Prepare the site and liaise with estimators, engineers and geotechnical surveyors before construction starts.

  • Assist with preparing project budgets and schedules, and help ensure the project is completed within budget and on schedule.

  • Track installed quantities and daily production, and prepare progress reports for the project team and client.

  • Monitor daily, weekly and monthly labour, equipment, material and subtrade costs to support cost tracking and monthly invoicing.

  • Support purchasing and procurement, and coordinate the timely delivery of materials by vendors.

  • Ensure the timely mobilization of the right equipment, tooling and staff to site.

  • Coordinate crews and daily field activities with site supervision.

  • Assist with preparing project submittals, quality control work packages and turnover packages.

  • Manage field documentation, ensuring records are accurate, complete and filed on time.

  • Review project plans and specifications, and comment on design, schedule, cost savings opportunities and potential construction issues.

  • Monitor the activities of subcontractors, subconsultants and suppliers.

  • Interface with the client as required.

  • Work with the HSE team to ensure health, safety and environmental regulations are followed.

  • Travel to project sites as required to support execution and coordination.

Qualifications – What Will Make You SuccessfulEducation
  • Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience
  • 3+ years of project coordination experience in construction, including time on active project sites.

  • Experience on major industrial, heavy civil, deep foundations / piling projects, energy, oil & gas, or nuclear field is an asset.

  • Experience tracking quantities, production and costs for progress reporting and invoicing.

  • Experience with submittals, procurement and turnover documentation.

  • Experience with in-field coordination is an asset.

Soft Skills
  • Highly organized, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced site environment.

  • Clear, confident communicator with crews, supervisors, subcontractors and clients.

  • Proactive problem-solver who works independently and takes ownership.

  • Strong commitment to safety.

  • Comfortable with remote site work, camp living and a rotational schedule.

Preferred Skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and strong overall Microsoft Office skills.

  • Familiarity with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.

  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.

  • Working knowledge of deep foundations methods.

Required Designations or Certifications
  • Valid driver’s licence.
