Project Manager, Construction

Overview
We’re looking for a Project Manager, Construction to lead and coordinate construction projects from planning and design through to completion. In this role, you’ll work closely with retail operations, consultants, contractors, municipal authorities, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required standards.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing

Review geotechnical and environmental reports, drawings, specifications, and other contract documents to ensure completeness and alignment with project intent.
Establish, monitor, and continually evaluate construction costs, budgets, and project financial performance.
Coordinate all aspects of construction projects with retail operations, design consultants, contractors, and other key stakeholders, including scheduling, equipment delivery, project reporting, and site activities.
Manage the contract administration process, including reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing changes to the base contract and submitting change order requests with associated cost and schedule impacts for management approval.
Recommend alternative materials, methods, and solutions where appropriate to achieve cost-effective results while maintaining project requirements and quality standards.
Develop and communicate project schedules and phasing plans, ensuring agreed timelines are met, long-lead equipment is ordered on time, and disruptions to existing operations are minimized.
Coordinate the timely submission, review, and approval of shop drawings, inspections, testing, and other technical requirements throughout the project.
Review and approve or reject project-related invoices and monthly progress claims, ensuring costs are accurate and aligned with project progress.
Coordinate final inspections and closeout activities with consultants and municipal authorities, ensuring building code requirements are met and all required as-built drawings, warranties, maintenance manuals, certifications, and other project documentation are obtained and properly filed.
Lead warranty activities, including year-end warranty inspections, and coordinate the involvement of professional consultants to verify and certify technical requirements such as air balancing, CPC panel wiring and functionality, and other project components.
Manage required CAR extensions and, in conjunction with National Finance, participate in the project interview process at the conclusion of all projects.

What you have to offer

Bachelor of Technology degree or diploma in Construction, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline.
8+ years of project management experience with 5+ years overseeing multiple disciplines of construction, preferably within retail, commercial, or multi-site environments.
Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, building systems, drawings, specifications, and construction details.
Demonstrated experience managing projects from design and planning through construction, closeout, and warranty.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts, budgets, scheduling, change orders, progress claims, inspections, and project documentation.
Proven ability to coordinate contractors, consultants, internal stakeholders, retail operations, and municipal authorities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
Excellent organizational, time-management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project and project scheduling tools.
Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
