Description

The Opportunity

Energy projects don’t need another person managing a spreadsheet. They need someone who owns the outcome.

Alpha Inc. is looking for a Project Manager I – Energy who can take complex energy, utility, power, reliability, and infrastructure projects from inception through completion—and keep cost, schedule, quality, safety, and client expectations moving in the same direction.

This is a role for a project professional who knows that a schedule slipping today becomes a client problem tomorrow. Someone who catches scope changes before they become margin killers. Someone who communicates before people have to ask and gets the field, subcontractors, clients, and internal teams aligned around what needs to happen next.

You’ll manage projects for both private and public-sector clients, with responsibility for budgets, schedules, contracts, change orders, project documentation, risk, and ultimately successful delivery.

If you want to simply participate in projects, this probably isn’t your role.

If you want to own them, keep reading.

About Alpha Inc.

Alpha Inc. is a Hawai?i-grown company tackling the infrastructure and energy challenges that matter to our communities.

Our Energy team operates in an environment where execution matters. Projects have real deadlines, real budgets, real technical challenges, and real customers counting on us to deliver.

How we get there matters just as much.

We operate around three core values:

Leading with Heart – Support and foster a safe, productive, and respectful work environment for all team members.

Strength in Unity – Collaborate with field leadership, project teams, clients, subcontractors, and internal departments to ensure successful project execution.

Alpha Mentality – Take ownership of project performance, solve problems proactively, and drive results through disciplined planning and execution.

As a Project Manager I, you’ll be expected to put all three into action.

What You’ll Own

Own the Project Lifecycle

  • From inception through closeout, you own the project.
  • You’ll oversee energy, utility, power, reliability, and infrastructure-based projects and work to ensure commitments are met, deadlines hold, budgets stay controlled, and the finished product meets Alpha’s standards.
  • You'll organize, direct, and partner with project teams while working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and other stakeholders to keep execution moving.
  • When obstacles show up—and they will—you don't just document the problem.
  • You help solve it.

Protect the Schedule

  • A schedule isn't something we create at kickoff and rediscover when the project starts running late.
  • You'll actively manage project deadlines and coordinate with field leadership and project teams to identify issues early, remove roadblocks, and keep deliverables moving toward completion.
  • When the plan changes, you'll help build the next plan.

Know the Numbers

  • Great Project Managers understand that delivering excellent work and delivering profitable work aren't competing priorities.
  • We expect both.
  • You'll manage project budgets and track financial performance, including cost control and profitability.
  • You'll also manage project estimates, contracts, change orders, and work orders while identifying scope changes that could affect budget or schedule and negotiating appropriate adjustments when necessary.
  • You should know where your project stands—not just where everyone hopes it stands.

Lead the Team Without Creating Silos

  • Project management at Alpha is a team sport.
  • You'll collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, field leadership, subcontractors, internal departments, clients, and other stakeholders to keep everyone aligned around project goals and deliverables.
  • That requires regular communication—not radio silence followed by an emergency meeting.
  • You’ll initiate conversations, provide project status updates, address issues and concerns, and make sure the right people have the right information when decisions need to be made.
  • That's Strength in Unity in action.

Manage Scope Before Scope Manages You

  • Projects evolve.
  • Successful Project Managers recognize those changes quickly and understand what they mean for cost, schedule, resources, and client expectations.
  • You'll monitor project scope, identify changes, manage change orders and work orders, and negotiate adjustments when necessary.

See it. Document it. Communicate it. Manage it.

  • Don't let it become a surprise.
  • Own the Paper Trail
  • Project documentation isn't administrative noise.
  • It's part of protecting the project.
  • You'll prepare and maintain comprehensive project records, including progress reports, schedules, financial updates, and correspondence, while ensuring documentation complies with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Accurate documentation. Current information. No guessing.

Manage Risk Before It Becomes a Crisis

  • You'll identify potential project risks, investigate serious issues, and help implement corrective action before problems compound.
  • You'll also help mitigate risks throughout execution and support a smooth transition to the client at project completion.
  • And throughout the project, you'll help ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • At Alpha, safety and successful execution aren't separate conversations.

What You Bring

This isn't an entry-level Project Manager position.

We're looking for someone who already understands commercial-scale energy or electrical projects and is ready to take meaningful ownership of project performance.

You bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial-scale renewable energy or electrical projects.
  • 2+ years of Project Management or supervisory experience.
  • Experience with Battery Storage Systems and Utility-Scale Distribution is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency with Project Management software.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, or HCSS is preferred.

Just as importantly, you know how to translate experience into execution.

The A-Player Profile

  • The person we're looking for doesn't need to be chased for updates.
  • You own outcomes. When something lands in your court, you drive it forward.
  • You see around corners. You recognize schedule, cost, scope, and execution risks before they become expensive problems.
  • You know your numbers. Budget and profitability aren't somebody else's responsibility.
  • You communicate early. Clients and teams shouldn't have to hunt for answers.
  • You work with the field, not around it. You understand that the best project plan means nothing if it can't be successfully executed.
  • You solve problems. You're comfortable digging into an issue, getting the right people involved, and finding a path forward.
  • You document the details. Contracts, change orders, schedules, financial updates, correspondence, and project records stay current.
  • You finish strong. Closeout isn't an afterthought. A successful project ends with the same discipline it started with.
  • That's Alpha Mentality.

Why Alpha?

Because the work matters.

Energy and infrastructure projects have an impact far beyond a project schedule. They support the reliability, resilience, and future of the communities they serve.

At Alpha, you'll have the opportunity to manage challenging projects while working alongside field leaders, project professionals, clients, and partners who know how to get work done.

We believe in accountability without ego, teamwork without silos, and finding solutions instead of excuses.

Bring us your experience. We'll give you projects worth owning.
