Description
QA Engineer — Wearables, Mobile & Cloud
Remote, United States | Austin preferred | $130,000–$155,000 annual base
Own quality from the wrist to the cloud. Join a lean health-technology team building a wearable platform that turns continuous biometric signals into data researchers, health systems, and enterprise partners can trust.
This is a hands-on role with real influence over what ships. You will trace failures across devices, mobile SDKs, APIs, and cloud services; build automation; fix bugs where you can; and lead the push to make every release more reliable.
What You’ll Own
- Test the full journey: wearable firmware, Bluetooth pairing and sync, iOS and Android SDKs, cloud processing, APIs, and the app.
- Reproduce difficult failures, find root causes in device and server logs, and deliver fixes or clear engineering handoffs.
- Build automated SDK, API, and app tests into CI.
- Own bug triage and release gates, prioritizing customer impact across hardware, mobile, and backend teams.
- Test the conditions that matter in daily use: overnight wear, workouts, low battery, weak signal, offline use, and OS updates.
What You Bring
- Substantial QA or test-engineering experience, typically 5+ years, including at least two years owning quality at a startup shipping hardware and software.
- Hands-on Bluetooth/BLE and mobile-device testing, with clear examples of releases you owned and reliability you improved.
- Coding in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript; the ability to read and fix Swift, Kotlin, or Go; and experience building automated test suites.
- Exposure to native mobile and cloud systems. The environment includes Go, Swift, Kotlin, AWS/S3, Firebase Crashlytics, and Mixpanel. You do not need to be an expert in every tool.
- Practical use of AI coding or testing tools, with a clear approach to checking their output.
- A sustained, explainable work history with clear personal ownership of shipped work.
Wearables, biometrics, health technology, IoT, firmware testing, and data-pipeline experience are especially relevant. Strong experience with other connected products is welcome.
Why Join
Take ownership across the entire product, shape the quality function, and make a visible difference to a platform people rely on every night. This player-coach role keeps you close to the code, the devices, and the decisions.
Compensation
$130,000–$155,000 annual base, plus equity and benefits. Final terms depend on experience, scope, and location.
