QA Test Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - 50,000 per year

Requirements:

• Approximately 4+ years of commercial software testing experience.
• Strong background in manual, regression and automated testing of web-based applications.
• Hands-on experience with Cypress, Playwright or comparable automation frameworks.
• Practical knowledge of JavaScript and/or TypeScript for writing and maintaining automated tests.
• Experience with API testing and an understanding of request/response handling.
• Good understanding of software testing methodologies, defect management and the software development lifecycle.
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
• Familiarity with Jira and CI/CD processes.
• A relevant degree or ISTQB certification is advantageous but not essential.
• Must be eligible to obtain security clearance, including having resided in the UK for the previous five years.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and execute manual, automated, regression and exploratory tests.
• Create and maintain automated test scripts using Cypress, Playwright or similar frameworks.
• Use JavaScript and/or TypeScript to develop and improve test automation.
• Review user stories, requirements and acceptance criteria to identify test scenarios and potential risks.
• Perform functional, integration, end-to-end and API testing.
• Validate application functionality across different browsers and environments.
• Identify, investigate and document software defects using Jira.
• Collaborate with developers and product owners to troubleshoot issues and validate fixes.
• Maintain and enhance existing automation frameworks to improve test reliability and coverage.
• Support the integration of automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Investigate application behaviour using browser developer tools, API responses and application logs.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning and release activities.
• Report test results, defects and release readiness clearly.
• Identify opportunities to improve testing processes, tools and overall software quality.

We are recruiting a permanent QA Test Engineer for an established, award-winning technology company developing innovative SaaS solutions used by organisations across the UK and internationally. Following significant investment and continued growth, the role will join an expanding software development team and work closely with developers, product owners and other technical stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle. The position is based in Woodbridge, Suffolk, offers a salary of up to £50,000 per annum and is hybrid. The contractual arrangement is four days in the office and one day working from home; a temporary arrangement of two office days and three home-working days is currently being trialled, subject to business requirements.
