Richelieu Foods, Inc. is a leading national private label and contract packing food manufacturer focused on frozen pizza. We have two manufacturing facilities located in IL and WI. We provide products to many national retailers, wholesalers, distributors, club and mass stores, as well as industrial accounts including other food manufacturers.
Job Summary
The Supervisor, Quality Assurance role is responsible primarily for supervision of the quality technicians and leads, and management of their activities to ensure compliance to the requirements of Richelieu Foods, Inc. (RFI) Quality Management System (QMS), locally applicable regulations and RFI management system. Additionally, this role requires working collaboratively and cross functionally with RFI local & corporate functions in support of plant operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Define the work schedule for quality technicians & lead to ensure safe, effective & efficient implementation of all required tasks in the plant.
· Hire, On-board and actively manage performance of quality technicians
· Ensure proper implementation of quality, food safety, employee safety and compliance related actions as defined in local work instructions or corporate QMS procedures (including laboratory testing)
· Develop or update work instructions related to the activities of the quality team- review and maintain current versions in the plant QMS.
· Develop, and update training on work instructions.
· Investigate, Troubleshoot and/or escalate non-conformances based on criticality
· Track and record quality performance metrics and create reports as required.
· Place product on hold, recommend and approve disposition decisions (based on risk assessment).
· Lead/execute specific and critical verification and validation activities (e.g. involving corrective & preventive action plans, equipment validation, calibration.
· Lead/train and/or participate in internal audits, inspections and traceability exercises
· Assist as needed in the investigation of non-conformances/complaints.
· Serve as a back-up (ad hoc) for the quality manager in the food safety team, plant operations meetings, plant audits (by customers, regulators etc.), and other responsibilities
Required Qualifications
· High School Diploma or equivalent with a strong understanding/ focus on food science, and mathematics.
· HACCP/PCQI certified
· Knowledge of relevant industry standards such as SQF, MOSA, RSPO, ISO and regulatory requirements FDA, USDA, CFIA etc.
· Minimum 2 years of experience working in quality related function in a food manufacturing environment
· Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of applications (outlook, excel, word, PowerPoint)
· Minimum 2 years of experience working in a supervisory/manager level role.
· Experience tracking performance metrics, and creating and communicating reports
· Experience in working cross-functionally (experience in other functional roles (operations, CI, sanitation etc. is preferred)
· Strong communication (written and verbal) and analytical skills and service-based work ethic.
· Highly adaptable and collaborative
Working Conditions
· On-Site: This role requires 100% onsite attendance to perform the essential functions of the role
· Able to access work areas and work where potentially exposed to dark, wet, warm, or cold environments with moving mechanical parts, background sounds, and flow of materials that carry some risk of vibrations, electrical shock and chemical exposure.
· Able to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in order to conduct work tasks.
· Able to safely and regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
· Able to travel on rare occasion to other plants or training/education opportunities & forums.
Pay and Benefits
The following information is provided in accordance with applicable state and local laws. Compensation is based on experience, geographic locations, and other legally permitted factors. The expected compensation range for this role is $77,000 and $92,000.
