Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Radar System Engineer, supporting TOS II, at White Sands Missile Range, NM. Radar System Engineer will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining or supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Job Summary

The Radar Systems Engineer reports directly to Engineer Manager to execute mission-critical specific radar systems equipment including design, development, tests, operation, maintenance, repair, and quality assurance. NRTF Radar Systems Engineer will work with a team of other engineers and technicians to create and improve radar systems, from the initial concept and design phase through the integration, testing, operations and maintenance phase. The NRTF Radar Systems Engineer will use a variety of tools and techniques to analyze and optimize radar performance, including computer simulations and mathematical models. The Radar Systems Engineer is also required to stay up to date with the latest advancements in radar technology and be knowledgeable about the laws and regulations that govern the use of radar systems. This position will require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules for extended periods of time. Must be willing to work overtime when required. NRTF’s Radar Systems Engineers should have a solid understanding of radar principles and have experience with computer simulations, mathematical modeling, and programming. Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills are also essential.

Job Duties:

  • Knowledge of modern radar, Instrumentation and constituent technologies.
  • The applicant should be proficient in antenna and radar theory and associated hardware.
  • Strong background in electrical engineering, physics, or related fields.
  • Lead and advise in the acquisition and insertion of new capabilities into the NRTF enterprise.
  • Train Operations personnel on new capabilities.
  • Lead small development efforts, as well as rapid prototypes.
  • Knowledge of RF components to allow for troubleshooting and new or modified design implementation.
  • Must be able to work individually and as a team member, able to take direction but must also lead and direct the work of others.
  • Knowledge of specification development for new system acquisitions.
  • Researching and ordering replacement components and spare parts for radar system.
  • Recommend improvements to maintenance methods, system and equipment performance as well as operational efficiencies.
  • Train and mentor junior Radar Systems Engineers and technicians.
  • Familiar with the System Engineering development process to include the ability to present/coordinate PDR’s, CDR’s, etc. and conduct FAT’s.
  • Follows all OSHA safety regulations.
  • Effective communication both verbally and written
  • Project management skills with experience in the procurement, cost and budget process.
  • Working knowledge of documentation and configuration control.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the Chief Scientist or Capabilities Manager as necessary to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related scientific or engineering discipline
  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in radar system architecture, integration, verification, and validation.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of programming experience utilizing MATLAB, MathCad, or Python.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance and maintain authorized user access to the AEDC local area network.
  • S. Citizenship is required due to federal government contract compliance requirements and the necessity to access secure federal databases and networks.
