Description
A financial software house in the City of London, operating from smart, modern offices, is seeking an exceptional Senior C++ Programmer to join its core engineering team. With 30+ years of expertise building real-time trading technology used by hedge funds, proprietary trading desks and investment specialists, the company is expanding its flagship platform and investing heavily in next-generation performance engineering.
This is a rare opportunity: the first 12 months are fully set aside for structured training, allowing you to learn the company’s trading systems, market-data architecture, and performance-critical design patterns before taking ownership of production modules.

The environment suits engineers who enjoy precision, reliability, and long-term craftsmanship in C++.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop and optimise C++ components for real-time trading and market-data systems.
- Work on low-latency messaging, event-driven architectures and high-throughput data pipelines.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to understand system behaviour, performance constraints and trading workflows.
- Contribute to architectural discussions, code reviews and long-term platform evolution.
- After the training period, take ownership of core modules within the trading stack.
- 10+ years’ commercial C++ development in complex or performance-critical systems.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, concurrency and memory management.
- Background in embedded systems, real-time control, or high-reliability software is perfectly suitable.
- Ability to write clean, robust, well-tested code.
- Comfortable working in a disciplined engineering environment with long-term product stability.
- Exposure to Rust for systems programming or performance-critical modules.
- Experience with messaging systems, market-data feeds, or distributed systems.
- Familiarity with Linux development, networking, or hardware-adjacent engineering.
- 12-month structured training programme
- Smart City offices with a highly experienced engineering team
- Long-term, stable product roadmap
- Opportunity to work on software used by leading hedge funds and investment specialists
- Deep technical challenges and genuine craftsmanship in C++
