Senior Mobile and Front End Software Engineer

Salary: £46,000 - 79,000 per year

Requirements:

• At least 5 years experience developing mobile applications
• Strong commercial experience with React and React Native, including TypeScript and JavaScript (ES6+), Expo, functional components, React Hooks, component lifecycle, and cross-platform development from a single codebase
• Familiarity with React Native architecture, including the JS thread, UI thread, bridge, and TurboModules
• Experience with offline-first implementation using SQLite
• Experience with state management solutions such as Zustand and Context API, and React Query/TanStack Query for asynchronous data fetching, caching, and retries
• Experience integrating REST APIs and securely handling authentication tokens and sensitive data
• Experience building responsive mobile interfaces and using Expo Router or React Navigation, the StyleSheet API, and map integrations such as react-native-maps, clustering, and geolocation
• Awareness of Android and iOS UI/UX differences and accessibility best practices, including screen readers, hit targets, and contrast
• Understanding of Android and iOS application lifecycles, runtime permissions, background tasks, and push notifications using FCM or APNs
• Familiarity with Android Studio, Xcode, emulators/simulators, physical devices, Android Gradle builds, iOS code signing, certificates, provisioning profiles, Apple Human Interface Guidelines, and platform debugging tools
• Ability to configure native modules and integrate third-party native SDKs
• Knowledge of mobile security practices, including SSL pinning, rooted or jailbroken device detection, secure token handling, and encrypted storage
• Experience profiling and optimizing React Native performance, including re-renders, memory use, lists, animations, and gestures
• Experience with analytics, crash reporting, and monitoring tools such as Firebase and Google Analytics
• Experience with Jest unit testing, ESLint, and Prettier
• Experience with Git-based workflows, CI/CD for React Native apps via ADO, and publishing apps to Google Play and the Apple App Store, including store guidelines, reviews, and release management
• Familiarity with development, staging, and production environment configuration
• Experience developing with TypeScript, React, and React Native, and consuming and integrating REST APIs
• Firebase experience with Analytics, App Check, Crashlytics, or Performance Monitoring is desirable
• Understanding of AWS best practices and architectures, and of building, scaling, and securing APIs in serverless and containerized AWS environments
• OCPP and OCPI protocol experience is desirable
• A relevant bachelors degree is preferred
• Self-motivated, able to work to tight deadlines, flexible, creative, patient, personable, communicative, supportive as a mentor, attentive to detail, and analytical in problem solving
• United Kingdom work authorization is required

• Develop Zests mobile app and work with other developers to build applications supporting our EV charge point management platforms
• Define and apply efficient coding standards across developments
• Improve development tools to support project work
• Mentor IT developers in code development
• Document solutions for deliverables and provide secure, reusable automation code
• Ensure deliverables have reproducible automated builds and tests
• Contribute to meeting the IT teams goals
