Senior Power Systems Data Engineer

Transform complex electricity data into insights with AESO through advanced analytics, visualization, and Python application development.

This Senior Engineer or Senior Analyst supports the Grid Analytics team’s solutions across Alberta’s interconnected power system. The position combines data engineering, business intelligence, machine learning, and stakeholder engagement. Analytics will support system operations, planning, market decisions, and grid reliability practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engage stakeholders across the organization
• Build and implement business intelligence platforms
• Interpret analytical findings through visualizations
• Develop engineering tools for market simulations
• Support congestion and market assessments

Requirements:

• Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or Computer Science degree
• Ten or more years of relevant work experience
• Strong relational database and SQL experience
• Advanced proficiency in Python and automation solutions
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Use data engineering, visualization, and power-system analytics skills to deliver measurable value across AESO’s cross-functional teams.
