Description
Fully Remote (US) · $135,000–$150,000
We're building new ways to move money at NMI, and we need a product manager to fully own the domain. This role will be responsible for working with the Money Movement Innovation team to build products that span bank-direct payments, open banking, virtual accounts, instant payouts, and the routing layer that decides which rail a payment should take. Some of NMI's newest, and biggest bets are handled by this team, so you will be exposed to the latest in payment technology.
About NMI
NMI, a global leader in payment technologies, allows software and sales professionals to deliver payment innovations to their clients without having to build payment expertise in house. NMI enables our partners with choice, and challenges the one-size-fits-all approach to payments. You've probably used NMI in the last 24 hours without even realizing it. We're the platform that powers success for innovative tech created by SMBs, entrepreneurs and fintech startups. We're creative problem solvers who help visionaries smash through boundaries and think beyond what's possible so they can think about what's next. But we're not just built for the tech savvy. We democratize the latest payments technology so that everyone can realize the benefits of easy payments across the full spectrum of commerce. Our mission is to use our expertise to enable more payments, in more ways and more places. We provide ISOs, Fintech Innovators and Technologists the freedom to focus on what they do best, liberating them from restricted payment solutions and giving them access to the latest payment technology now and in the future.
How We Work - Our Core Values
- Be a Good Person, It's Simple. We treat everyone fairly and with respect. We lead with kindness, humility and integrity. We take the time to understand each other and our customers. And we serve with care, because customers are never a transaction, and always our focus
- Align, Trust & Go. We debate openly, listen carefully and challenge thoughtfully. Once we decide, we move forward together - holding ourselves accountable to our commitments, and focusing on what matters most to our customers. That alignment creates momentum.
- Raise the Bar. Good enough isn't enough. We stay curious, measure everything, stay honest about progress and keep pushing ourselves to think creatively. We drive change, again and again. And leave things better than we found them. When we raise the bar, our customers feel it too.
About the Team
The Money Movement Innovation team is building one of NMI's highest growth product areas. As real time payment rails mature — FedNow, RTP, ACH, open banking, push-to-card — our partners are demanding bank direct payment options that reduce interchange costs, accelerate settlement, and unlock entirely new merchant use cases: disbursements, earned wage access, insurance payouts, B2B collections, marketplaces, escrow holding, and more.
This team was established through NMI's acquisition of Dwolla, a leading ACH and real-time payments platform. You will inherit a strong foundation, live product, existing rails and relationships, and a seasoned team to build upon and scale within NMI's broader partner ecosystem.
You will:
- Own the roadmap for your product domain within Money Movement, maintaining a well prioritized backlog, a clear rationale for every decision, and a delivery plan that the team can execute against. You set the strategy for your products, decide what gets built, and support your decisions.
- Improve the user feedback process for your product domain using partner interviews, transaction data, competitive information, sales feedback, and more.
- Write specs engineers don't have to decode and that consider a variety of edge cases.
- Learn the rails properly. You'll know what a return code means, why a file missed a cutoff, and how settlement timing works.
- Define metrics before launch, watch it after, and tell the team what happened.
- Work across Compliance, Risk, Payment Ops, Sales and other groups at the company.
- Use AI like it's 2026. We expect you to be faster than a PM was three years ago and we'll give you the tools.
- Contribute to team OKRs; participate in quarterly planning and own your results
Who we're looking for:
- 4+ years in product management, with at least one product you owned from "we think there's a problem" through to launch and what happened after.
- A self starter. You run the customer call, pull the data yourself, read the spec. You don't wait for a research team or a brief.
- You can write clearly, briefly, and in a way that holds up when an engineer reads it closely.
- You have commercial instincts. You can tell the difference between a feature a partner asked for and a feature that will change their behavior.
- You're fluent with AI tools and use them to produce better work, not just faster work.
Bonus points:
- Any exposure to payments, banking, or fintech as a PM, an engineer, an analyst, or a user who got curious.
- Experience with open banking tools (Plaid, MX, Finicity) or ACH/Nacha rules.
- You've built or owned an API product and have opinions about developer experience.
- You've worked on something where correctness mattered more than speed such as ledgers, infrastructure, trading.
- A background in a quantitative field.
Do you feel like you have a slightly out of the ordinary career path or history? We are open to all walks of life and very willing to hear your story. Please don't feel like this should be a barrier to securing a great career at NMI! We appreciate success can come in all shapes and sizes. As well as being a part of something exciting everyday, you will also receive the following benefits:
