Description

Tango is a successful, market leader, a live-streaming Platform with 450+ Million registered users, in an industry projected to reach $240 BILLION in the next couple of years.

The B2C platform, based on the best-quality global video technology, allows millions of talented people around the world to create their own live content, engage with their fans, and monetize their talents.

Tango live stream was founded in 2018 and is powered by 500+ global employees operating in a culture of growth, learning, and success!

The Tango team is a vigorous cocktail of hard workers, creative brains, energizers, geeks, overachievers, athletes, and more. We push the limits to bring our app from “one of the top” to “the leader”.

The best way to describe Tango's work style is not to use the word “impossible”. We believe that success is a thorny path that runs on sleepless nights, corporate parties, tough releases, and of course our users' smiles (and as we are a LIVE app, we truly get to see our users all around the world smiling right in front of us in real-time!).

Do you want to join the party?

Responsibilities

  • Own the backend architecture — service boundaries, data flows, and how services communicate.
  • Set standards for API design, versioning, and integration between our services and external partners.
  • Define backend conventions: project structure, testing, error handling, documentation, and how architecture decisions get made and recorded.
  • Design for throughput, latency, and failure — and fix bottlenecks and single points of failure before they cause incidents.
  • Choose the right storage for each use case, design schemas, and define which service owns which data.
  • Design how LLMs fit into our backend: agent and tool-calling patterns, MCP servers over our internal systems, context handling, evaluation, and fallbacks when the model gets it wrong.
  • Set the standard for AI-assisted development — how the team uses coding agents, what belongs in the repo (context files, custom commands, review workflows), and where the guardrails are.
  • Keep track of architectural risks and technical debt, and turn them into a plan the teams can actually execute.
  • Evaluate frameworks and third-party services, and decide what we adopt.
  • Work with mobile, data, cloud, and product teams so the backend fits what they need.
  • Review designs and mentor engineers.

Requirements

  • 8–10+ years in backend engineering, including recent experience in an architect or tech lead role with ownership of architectural decisions.
  • Deep expertise in backend stacks (Java/Kotlin + Spring, Go, Python, Rust, .NET) and the ability to choose a language and framework based on the problem, not on habit.
  • Experience designing and delivering high-load distributed systems to production: microservices, event-driven and asynchronous architectures, a clear understanding of failure modes and how to contain them.
  • API design (REST, gRPC, async/messaging) and service contracts, including versioning and backward compatibility. Mobile - backend integration.
  • Data: SQL and NoSQL databases, data modeling, indexing, query optimization, caching (Redis or similar), tuning systems under load.
  • Application security as part of design: authentication and authorization, secrets management, data protection, threat modeling.
  • Architecture documentation and decision-making: ADRs, C4 or similar diagrams, trade-off analysis, TCO estimates.
  • Platform and infrastructure: cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure), Kubernetes, IaC (Terraform), CI/CD, observability (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Daily use of AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) with a clear view of where they accelerate work and where they introduce risk.
  • Ownership after release: production support, observability, incident management, post-mortems.
  • Team role: mentoring engineers, technical reviews, participation in hiring, working closely with product and business stakeholders.
  • Communication: the ability to explain and defend architectural decisions to engineers and to the business; English Intermediate+.
  • Would Be a Plus
  • Large-scale consumer products and real-time systems; multi-region / geo-distributed deployments and disaster recovery.
  • Experience breaking up a monolith or leading a large migration.
  • Anti-abuse, rate limiting, and DDoS protection in consumer products.
  • Kafka or similar at the design level: topic design, partitioning, consumer groups, delivery guarantees.
  • Runtime profiling and performance tuning (JVM, Go runtime, async Python, etc.).
  • LLM engineering in production: agent frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain), RAG and vector stores, tool calling, MCP servers, streaming, cost and latency control, output evaluation (test sets, regression checks, tracing).

What we offer:

  • Stock options grant (we’re a Silicon Valley Company)
  • Competitive salary
  • Medical insurance for you and 75% off for your relatives
  • On-site position with 4 days at the office and 1 day WFH
  • Budget for lunch
  • Parking
  • Multisport card
  • Cheerful team spirit and fun office atmosphere

If this sounds like you, apply and help empower live entertainers and creators to build independent businesses around their live talents.
