Software Engineer

Salary: £37,500 - 43,000 per year

Requirements:

• At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience; the posting also lists 5 years of software development experience as required.
• Familiarity with AI, Agile methodologies, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Expertise in one or more of the following areas: developing and maintaining scalable APIs and services, serverless technologies and design patterns, AWS services, or database management.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an agile development environment and solve complex problems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across product functions.
• Experience working in a multi-person development team and customer engagement and communication skills are highly regarded.
• Ideally based in the Leeds area and comfortable working in the office 2–3 times per week.
• Must have the legal right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance, reusable, reliable software.
• Help ensure the performance, reliability, and quality of our products.
• Contribute across the technology stack, from the front end to the platform infrastructure.
• Work with other engineers through pairing, design reviews, and code reviews.
• Collaborate with colleagues outside engineering to develop solutions for customers and colleagues.
• Develop as part of an engineering team, seeking feedback and building technical skills.
• Support AI adoption, continuous improvement, and integrations that enhance our product and development processes.

The role is a full-time Software Engineer position in our Technology department, reporting to the Head of Engineering, with a salary of £37,500–£43,000 depending on experience. It is based in central Leeds and offers hybrid working, with 2–3 days in the office each week, for 37.5 hours per week. Our primary technology includes .NET, React, AWS EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, Step Functions, Postgres, and Microsoft SQL Server; we also use NodeJS, TypeScript, MySQL, MongoDB, and Linux.
