Software Systems Engineer

Enterprise Solutions and Management (ESM) is a rapidly growing government contractor that provides strategic IT services that meet mission needs for Defense and Federal customers. We are hiring a Software Systems Engineer to support an enterprise-level program within a federal environment.

Job Description and Responsibilities

Formulates/defines specifications for complex operating software programming applications or modifies/maintains complex existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer. Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents those programs. Provides overall operating system maintenance, such as sophisticated file maintenance routines, large telecommunications networks, computer accounting, and advanced mathematical/scientific software packages. Assists all phases of software systems programming applications. Evaluates new and existing software products.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)

• Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, system architecture, software development life cycles, and modern programming methodologies.
• Understanding of operating systems, databases, networking concepts, APIs, cloud technologies, and system integration practices.
• Proficient in designing, developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining scalable and reliable software systems using languages such as Java, Python, C++, or C#.
• Ability to analyze complex technical requirements, troubleshoot system issues, and develop effective solutions while balancing performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with software developers, systems engineers, cybersecurity teams, project managers, and other stakeholders to deliver integrated technical solutions.
• Ability to document technical designs, communicate complex concepts clearly, adapt to emerging technologies, and continuously improve software and system performance.

Minimum Training, Education, and Certifications

• Five (5) years of relevant experience
• Relevant certification from nationally recognized technical authority.
• 8570 Baseline IAT Level I

• Secret

• Required to stand, walk and sit; communicate verbally both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking (including stairs) throughout offices and between buildings. May require use of public transportation, personal or Government vehicle to drive to local and/or remote office locations.
