Description

The Senior Application Developer designs, develops, implements, and supports business applications that drive operational efficiency and support organizational goals. This role partners closely with business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions, while ensuring application performance, security, reliability, and data integrity. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem solver with strong technical expertise, business acumen, and communication skills.

Essential Functions

Application Development & Support

  • Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain business applications and enhancements that support organizational objectives.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve application issues to ensure system stability and performance.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for IBM i applications, programs, and databases.
  • Ensure application security, data integrity, and adherence to development standards and best practices.

Solution Design & Business Partnership

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
  • Participate in all phases of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and support.
  • Develop and maintain technical, functional, and process documentation.

Continuous Improvement & Technology Innovation

  • Evaluate existing systems and processes and recommend improvements that increase efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  • Research emerging technologies and development practices to identify opportunities for enhancement and innovation.
  • Work with third-party vendors to support integrations and business application functionality.

Technical Support & Collaboration

  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to IT team members and end users.
  • Deliver user and technical training related to applications, processes, and system enhancements.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to leadership and

stakeholders.

Other Responsibilities

  • Participate in after-hours support activities and system implementations as
  • needed.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6+ years of application development experience.
  • Strong experience with RPG IV, RPG ILE, RPG Free, CL, and IBM i environments.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and delivering technical solutions.
  • Experience supporting application integrations and working with third-party vendors.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise business applications.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies and SDLC practices.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
