Staff Data Engineer

Overview

In this role you will shape the data platform behind an AI-driven technology company, owning long-term architecture and high-impact technical decisions. You’ll work at the intersection of data engineering, AI, and agentic workflows to build scalable foundations for analytics and AI. As a senior individual contributor, you’ll mentor engineers, influence engineering strategy across teams, and balance innovation with reliability to support data-led decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of the data platform and long-term architecture
• Build and scale production data platforms and modern data pipelines
• Influence engineering strategy across teams and lead complex technical initiatives
• Mentor senior engineers and raise engineering excellence
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support analytics and AI initiatives

Key requirements

• Staff-level experience with production data platforms
• Strong expertise in data architecture, distributed systems and multi-tenant environments
• Hands-on experience with Python, SQL, dbt and modern data pipelines
• Track record of leading complex technical initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders
• Passion for solving hard problems, balancing innovation with reliability, and building for the long term
