Staff Data Platform Engineer

Lead large-scale data platform design at Loblaw Companies Limited, using distributed systems and data architecture to support Canadian retail innovation. This hands-on technical leadership role shapes scalable backend foundations.

As a Staff Data Engineer on the Retail Media Platform team, you will guide complex production systems independently. You will collaborate with Data Engineering, Backend, Product, and AI teams across platform evolution. Your work supports measurement, reporting, analytics, and AI-enabled capabilities through reliable technical foundations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end solutions for large-scale data platforms
• Translate requirements into scalable, reliable architectural solutions
• Design batch, streaming, and analytical data pipelines
• Establish validation, testing, monitoring, and recovery practices
• Mentor engineers and lead cross-team design reviews

Requirements:

• Staff-level judgment designing complex production systems independently
• Strong data architecture and distributed processing knowledge
• Strong SQL and Python, Scala, or Java proficiency
• Experience operating large-scale data pipelines
• Experience with cloud platforms and production operations
