Position Overview

We have a fast-growing team of dedicated consultants with deep experience from working both within the industry and consulting. Successful candidates should expect a diverse range of complex and strategic engagements across the Insurance market. As we continue to expand our client base and expertise, we are looking for individuals to join our team to support our growth journey.

You will be responsible for identifying and implementing solutions for a range of issues facing insurance companies. Over the course of each project, you will collect and analyze data, prepare and test hypotheses, and present recommendations to the client to solve their unique business challenge. You'll be playing a proactive supporting role in driving our programs forward and engaging directly with client stakeholders to solve their business challenges.

Position Responsibilities

  • Understand complex insurance issues and their potential impact on the clients' business

  • Engage with stakeholders to drive & lead execution against effective project plans, anticipate potential issues, and provide structured solutions to ensure a successful client engagement.

  • Lead a workstream or component of a project, taking responsibility for the creation of client deliverables by facilitating client interviews and workshops, performing analyses, synthesizing clear insights from complex information, and developing content that clearly articulates recommendations.

  • Develop meaningful and successful relationships with clients and vendors by understanding the different needs of stakeholders and establishing a high degree of credibility.

  • Support Alpha FMC's broader business evolution, including co-authoring whitepapers and performing market research to identify opportunities.

  • Contribute to the wider Alpha community by making innovative and proactive contributions to one or more business management or practice areas.

  • Maintain a broad understanding of the challenges facing the Insurance Industry and knowledge of relevant issues and trends within one or more of Alpha's practice areas.

Core Consulting Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Management, Business Analytics, Economics, Engineering, or related disciplines.

  • At least 4 years of proven consulting experience at a recognized consulting firm or through an 'in-house' consulting / business analyst role at a leading financial institution.

  • Experience within financial services, preferably within the insurance industry.

  • Excellent consulting and problem-solving skills, and familiarity with recognized project and consulting frameworks and business process mapping.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to articulate complex problems and solutions in a simple, logical, and impactful manner; executive presentation skills.

  • Proven track record of building and sustaining lasting relationships with team members.

  • Appetite to support clients across our practice areas. Intellectual capacity and ability to think in new, innovative ways to understand complex issues and develop creative solutions.

  • Ability to comfortably multi-task and engage in multiple initiatives concurrently.

  • Flexibility to travel up to 50%.

Technical Project Management & P&C Insurance Experience

Candidates with the following technical project management and P&C insurance background are particularly valued:

  • P&C Insurance Domain: Direct experience working within Property & Casualty insurance operations, underwriting, claims, distribution, or related functions at an insurance carrier, MGA, broker, or consulting firm.

  • Project/Program Management: Demonstrated ability to plan, execute, and deliver complex programs or technical initiatives with cross-functional teams, including resource allocation, timeline management, and risk mitigation.

  • Insurance Technology & Systems: Experience with insurance core systems, policy administration platforms, claims management systems, data warehousing, or related technologies that support P&C operations.

  • Process Improvement & Optimization: Track record of identifying inefficiencies, designing solutions, and implementing improvements in insurance operations or workflows using lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Ability to extract, analyze, and translate insurance data (claims, premium, policy, operational metrics) into actionable business insights and executive-level dashboards.

  • Stakeholder Management in Insurance: Experience navigating complex organizational structures and managing relationships with underwriters, claims teams, IT, compliance, and senior insurance leadership.

  • Regulatory & Compliance Awareness: Familiarity with insurance regulations, compliance requirements (state insurance codes, NAIC guidelines), and how they impact business operations and technology implementations.

  • Vendor Management: Experience coordinating with insurance technology vendors, implementing vendor solutions, or managing outsourced P&C functions.
