This role focuses on providing administrative and business support to the organization in order to achieve operational goals. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Program Management duties: Program management, projects, and coordination of resources to meet accreditation standards, support strategic growth, and service line development. These positions typically support hospital-based programs. A management role that supervises employees focusing on tactical, operational activities within a specified area, with the majority of time spent overseeing area of responsibility, planning, prioritizing and/or directing the responsibilities of employees. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and/or indirect reports. A role that supervises para-professional employees. Responsibilities that typically include: Setting day-to-day operational objectives for team, problems faced may be difficult but typically are not complex, and ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders.
Job Overview
The Trauma Program Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the trauma program. This role organizes the services necessary for a multidisciplinary approach to care for critically injured patients.
Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) OR Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
2. Massachusetts RN Licensure.
3. Four (4) years of RN experience in a Trauma Center.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
2. Two (2) years of Management Experience.
3. Six (6) years of RN experience in a Trauma Center.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
1. Assesses the quality of care provided to trauma patients, in accordance to protocol, in collaboration with Quality Improvement (QI) team.
2. Identifies performance improvement projects for interdisciplinary collaboration.
3. Works with QI team to identify problems with trauma care and intervene when appropriate or refer problems to the appropriate individual.
4. Facilitates coordination of interdisciplinary trauma performance improvement conferences for the adult trauma service.
5. Identifies deficiencies impeding the maintenance of the trauma center standards and suggests methods for addressing these deficiencies.
6. Facilitates trauma patient transfer process.
7. Coordinates preparation of re-verification application, pre-review questionnaire, and supporting materials for American College of Surgeons trauma center verification when required.
8. Collaborates on the development of trauma transfer protocols.
9. Facilitates and participates in interdisciplinary educational programs for health care professionals and the community concerning all phases of trauma care.
10. Directs outreach and injury prevention programs.
11. May supervise the Trauma Registrar to ensure continuous data entry and maintenance of an updated registry.
12. In conjunction with the Trauma Registrar, provides information for analysis and evaluation of the quality of patient care, including epidemiological and demographic characteristics of trauma patients.
13. Reports data to the MA State Trauma registry and to the National Trauma Data Bank.
14. Manages, as appropriate, the operational and personnel aspects of the trauma program, serving as a liaison to the hospital administration.
15. Actively participates in professional organizations at the State and National levels and promotes the Trauma Division’s stature in these organizations.
16. Assesses needs for trauma educational programs and coordinates these as necessary.
17. Functions as a member of the Emergency Management service given the nature of trauma.
18. Monitors fiscal status of Trauma program including preparing the annual budget, reviewing reimbursement, preparing variance reports, and modifying the business plan for the service in conjunction with the System Director of Surgical Services
19. Collaborates with team to develop program goals.
20. Ensures staff competence through annual evaluations.
21. Initiates and manages change, ensuring appropriate support and resources.
Physical Requirements:
1. Occasional lifting of 30-35 lbs and turning patients.
2. Prolonged standing and walking.
3. Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
4. Exposure to infectious disease and possible carcinogenic chemicals.
5. Exposure of blood-borne pathogens.
6. Requires fine manual dexterity to lift and maneuver patients.
7. Requires visual and aural acuity necessary to monitor patient care.
Skills & Abilities:
1. Knowledge of Care of the Critically Injured Patient.
2. Knowledge of local and state legislative actions, as well as the American College of Surgeons guidelines for Trauma Center performance within a State Trauma System as outlined in the “Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient”.
3. Demonstrated ability to function independently in education and consulting capabilities as well as competency in teaching, education and quality/performance improvement.
4. Proven organizational/management/supervisory skills required.

Pay Range:
$101,084.26 - $128,878.21based on full-time equivalent
