Wireless Network Engineer

Description

Salary: £40,000 - 50,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Demonstrable knowledge of wireless network installation, surveys, and analysis
  • Demonstrable knowledge of switched and routed LAN network architecture
  • Verifiable experience working with wireless and networking technologies
  • Verifiable experience using wireless surveying tools such as Ekahau
  • Demonstrable knowledge of IP networking and strong general IT competence
  • Experience using networking tools to analyse and resolve networking issues
  • Understanding and experience with networking elements such as QoS, DNS, DHCP, Radius, TACACS, and SNMP
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when completing documentation
  • Working knowledge of current standards governing wireless networking
  • Excellent customer-facing manner
  • Flexibility regarding working location and hours
  • UK driving licence
  • Industry-recognised wireless or networking training and certification, such as CCNA or above
  • Manufacturer-awarded training and certification in wireless network installation or design, such as Aruba, Cisco, or Aerohive
  • A recognised degree-level qualification in an IT-related discipline
  • Specific experience or training in other IT or network-related areas, such as switching and routing or client/server installation
  • Experience or recognised training with other intelligent-building technologies, such as intelligent lighting, HVAC, and energy management
  • CSCS or ECS card
Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, test, and document wireless access and LAN backhaul systems
  • Maintain and troubleshoot a range of wireless technologies
  • Work with switched and routed LAN network architecture
  • Maintain the integrity and security of end-client systems
  • Interpret proposal documents, schematics, and drawings
  • Complete work-related documentation accurately and promptly, including test results, commissioning information, drawings, and O&M information
  • Deliver high-quality workmanship and self-audit work
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation
  • Coordinate with other systems and subcontractors, particularly those working on structured cabling, IP security, and building intelligence systems
  • Complete required internal documentation
  • Follow our health and safety standards and company processes
  • Provide a high level of customer service and communicate clearly with internal and external contacts
  • Assist in other areas of our business as required, including potentially contributing to wireless network design and switched or routed network implementation
